OAGI LINK SOCCER ACADEMY is the successor of Buoho Football Club, which used to be a community club
formed primarily for Buoho Community (Buoho, Wioso, Petrensa, Akyina, etc) for the development of Juvenile
footballers at the grassroots level.
In February 2021, some notable men in the sports fraternity, notably, Mr. Paul Asante, Mr. Adolf (deceased),
Nana Akwasi Bosompim, Mr. Gimel Owusu-Ansah (current Club Director), Mr. Yaw Owusu, among others met
on Sundays and discussed intents to establish a sporting club for the community; a sporting club that provides
avenues for young talents to nurture their dreams to become professionals.
In fact, to start a football club project is as commencing a building project. It needs time, money and critical
thinking. To put the gears on, several community broadcasts were made at the various information centers to
canvass for interested amateur footballers to join Buoho Football Club with the slogan, ‘Akokoɔdurufoɔ’.
However, all efforts to get all members on board to raise funds to provide sporting equipment (footballs, training
cones, vests, jerseys, etc) for the players proved futile and it became a headache for the pioneers and things
started thwarting.
Aided by the zeal to go against the odds associated with initiating a project or venture in the community and the
commitment and eagerness on the part of the children to study football and make a successful impact in the
football venture, Mr. Paul Asante (current Assistant Director and Head Coach) conscientiously encouraged Mr.
Gimel Owusu-Ansah (current CEO / Club Director) to make this dream a reality.
On Saturday, 17th April, 2021, Mr. Gimel Owusu-Ansah held a meeting involving Mr. Paul Asante, Mr. Yaw
Owusu and Mr. Adolf (deceased) at OAGI Links Enterprise office to declare his intent to continue with the club
on a whole new dimension and this news wowed members at the meeting.
On Saturday, May 1st 2021, Registration Forms were issued to interested footballers, footballs and training vests
were also procured for the club and registration procedures commenced to give birth to this beautiful dream. The
services of another coach, Mr. Philip Kwesi Hagan (aka Coach Mfante) was sort after to assist in the training of
Under 13 & 15 players.
The club won several friendly games, local tournaments amidst runner ups. The Coaches and players then
made a proposal that the club name be changed to suit the business name and documents of the Club
Director’s Company in order to make registration of the club and players easier.
On Sunday, July 21
st, 2023, a new name, OAGI LINK SOCCER ACADEMY, with its new logo and slogan was
introduced to replace Buoho Football Club.
On Wednesday 23rd August, 2023, the Club was successfully registered with Ghana Football Association, with
Organisation ID 6617 and FIFA ID 14CQ5NG under the wider name OAGI LINK FC.
Now, OAGI LINK SOCCER ACADEMY boasts of over 70 juvenile players with about 25 players from Kade
(Eastern Region), Manso Datano, Manso Kwabenaso, Keniago, Abofour, Fawoman, Aduman, Ahenkro,
Hemang, etc, all camped in a Boarding facility at Buoho in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti
Region, Ghana.
This is OAGI LINK SOCCER ACADEMY, we are “Warriors” in the football game, and this is our story.
